JOB DESCRIPTION – Drosophila/Molecular Biologist and Scientific Program Leader

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Design and hands-on execution of biological experiments using fruit flies to model human diseases.

•MEDROS has ongoing partnerships with large pharmaceutical companies to develop and screen unique models of diseases in flies. Depending on the stage of a project, you will:

oWork with the MEDROS team to generate feasible and valuable scientific proposals for the partner including setting time lines, making cost estimates, and determining achievable milestones.

oPrepare and deliver good oral and written presentations in order to build our relationship with the partner.

oLead and work along side a BS/MS scientist to complete the project on time.

•Write SBIR grants to support development of new model systems and approaches.

•You will be challenged to build a successful biotechnology company and play an active role in developing MEDROS' internal and/or external infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed at MEDROS it is key to have a willingness and ability to perform as a team member in a smaller collegial work environment.

A strong scientific background in Drosophila biology, genetics and/or molecular biology is required for this position.

Experience with Drosophila biology is highly desirable.

Project management experience is highly desirable.

A Ph.D. in Drosophila biology, Genetics or Molecular Biology is required.

Industrial experience is preferred.
